Ana Nitmar is a Guatemalan singer, now a resident of the San Francisco East Bay Area. It is in this dynamic musical community where Ana Nitmar has found an inspiring and creative force.

She combines the folkloric musical tradition with the cultural heritage in her performances.

Ana Nitmar collaborates with several traditional music ensembles including Berkeley based Ixim Tinamit (The Corn People) Marimba Ensemble, a group of devoted Guatemalan marimba musicians who continue in their grandparents musical tradition.

Over the years Ana Nitmar’s musical contribution has not being limited to the traditional Guatemalan folk songs. It has embraced the wider range of Latin music, Brazilian jazz, and lounge music.

A unique expression of her love for a musical assortment was the production of her CD “Forest in Spring” in the fall of 2006. The CD is a compilation of songs, in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and English. Her album has uplifting messages; it is rich in musical beauty and outstanding performances.

In 2006 she found Martin Productions as a medium to promote Guatemalan music and culture. The mission of the organization is to educate, preserve, strengthen and convey the presence of music, culture and traditions of Guatemala and to educate new generations of Guatemalan-Americans about the importance of traditional music and folklore.
